Co-Compassion Therapy
For me, Joakim is as a colleague, an amazing example of how pain can change into wisdom when we do the work.He is authentic and compassionate. He always briskly points at the root of the things. It’s my pleasure to recommend Joakim to my friends and people searching a guide for the healing journey because he really embedded compassionate inquiry.Joakim, as I could witness, accompanies clients with great empathy and mirrors back your own truth. Thanks Joakim!

Joakim has helped me so much on my journey to being more compassionate with myself and also with others. Thanks to his guidance I am now able to see when my inner child is present and how I can take good care of that part of me.

Working with Joakim as a Compassionate Inquiry mentor has been a great experience. He is a clear mirror and was able to deliver positive feedback, constructive criticism and knowledge in a very compassionate, gentle and efficient way. I did appreciate a lot the connection, trust and playfulness present in our sessions.

Joakim is a great, down to earth guy to work with and i highly recommend him. Using his compassionate inquirery approach we were able to get through things i didn't even remember, while also keeping enough space to avoid being overwhelmed by what came up. In the end I've learned many excellent strategies for maintaining control and staying clear headed despite what the world throws at me. Highly recommended!

It has been an honor working with Joakim not only in the Mentoring internship program but also as a co-intern for one of the biweekly groups in CI. Joakim brings a lot of curiosity in his sessions and shows a great deal of presence in his sessions. As a mentor Joakim is considerate of how the Mentee would like feedback and builds their self esteem to the skills shown in the session. I have loved working together with you Joakim. All the best for the future.

Co-Compassion Therapy
Last year I was on a crossroad: stepping out of psychoanalysis after 13 years (although I could clearly underline my progress) or entering a new, unknown therapy - Compassionate Inquiry?Surfing through the website of Compassionate Inquiry and looking carefully at the facial expressions of more than 130 practionaries I was leaning strongly towards Joakim Appell.I could see the pain in his eyes, but also a grand heart, a nest full of kindness, ready to embrace anyone in need.As a metaphor for psychoanalysis and compassionate inquiry I could present the following:The first is like being on a beach and splashing my feet with the water, the second is enjoying deep diving and a good deal of swimming.I have been warned by my psychoanalyst that compassionate inquiry is not going to help me, that deep, important issues will be left out, but it is the contrary in Compassionate Inquiry:- the relationship between the client and the therapist is based on an even, humane, interactive level vs the psychoanalyst who imposes rules and the client who has to blindly obey, trust and talk to itself almost all the time.Being in therapy with Joakim leaves no room for such an atmosphere or for feeling alone.- Joakim gently accompanies me in my 'walks' through the feelings and has an amazing perception when the dive is too deep for me and when I can explore with more curiosity my pain.- There is a profound presence of Joakim on all levels. When I need it he strongly supports me with extra material for meditation or other important literature.I could never believe that there is another level of feeling and I am grateful to Gabor Maté for sharing it with the world and to Joakim Appell for being my guide through this journey.

Co-Compassion Therapy
I have had several sessions of Compassionate Inquiry with Joakim, and each time was a profound & powerful experience. While Joakim holds the sessions safely with gentle attention, he expertly helped me to explore buried feelings of shame, guilt & fear, I felt completely seen, heard & showered with Compassion as I navigated deep trauma.A very genuine soul who will walk with you as you find your way back to your true authentic self

Joakim has an amazingly warm and accepting presence and epitomises the whole of what I would call “Compassionate Inquiry”No subject matter felt off limits during my sessions with him. I felt completely honoured respected and embraced on every level and HIGHLY recommend him.I learnt so much from him and felt particularly as a woman that I was totally seen and met in the highest possible way, much needed if u have any men issues and safety is paramount. Highly transformative. ThankU so much Joakim.
