Kittilä flygplats

Nice staff and it is a tiny intercontinental airport. Nowhere to buy Prepaid SIM cards which terrified international travelers like us. The Bus transportation was a mystery which there's no timetable and nowhere to check for it. Thank you for the ground staff lady which helped us to check for the bus departure timetable... And our advice was, get on the bus once you arrived the airport or you need to wait for 2 hours for the next bus!!( At the end, we took taxi, and the driver was sweet!!)

This is a nice little airport. If you forget any last minute souvenirs- they have you covered. There's huskies, reindeer teddies etc, hats, sami type ponchos, I think they had the reindeer pelts as well. There's also a little play area for the younger kids too and plenty of seating areas (even somewhere to charge your phones). We found it fascinating as they actually had to use anti freeze on the plane wings before takeoff. That was a new one for us. We were also lucky enough to get a glimpse of the northern lights from up in the air

Small airport but very organized. Easy check-in in departures and baggage claim in arrival. One shop and 2or3 cafes. Nice decoration and the best transportation is to take the bus to your destination.

Small and manageable airport with very helpful staff.The prices for food and drinks are exorbitant.

Kittila has a small airport, you can walk from the plane to the gate.Make sure you booked a taxi, no taxi’s wait outside in wintertime. Good giftshops.

Our bus arrived about 1.5 hours before take-off. However, check-in had not yet started. The queues at the check-in desk were so long that it reached the entrance door and other passengers could not find their way through this small airport. After half an hour of queueing, boarding of the plane started, but our luggage and that of many others had not even been checked in yet. After another 15min and still not getting our turn, they suddenly called a final call to go to the plane. Then we and quite a few others still had to pass security check where we had to take off our shoes once more. Eventually, we had to run to get to the plane where we sat for an hour because there were not enough machines to clear the plane of snow in time and then, just before take-off, taxiing was aborted because the runway was not free of snow. After 1h45min our plane finally took off.To me, Kittilä Airport is lne the most disorganised airport in Europe that seems to be bursting at the seams. The communication between the ground staff and that of the staff to keep the runway and aircraft clear of snow could have been a lot better here in order not to keep a full aircraft on the ground for approx. 1h45 min.

Small international airport that we used to fly back to Manchester from. Elfs were a great source of entertainment for the kids. It is small enough to get you into the baggage area with minutes of arriving and through security in a further few minutes. The only reason it didn't achieve a fifth star was simply the cost of the limited food available. 4,50 euro for 500ml of pepsi, 2, 20 for a small chocolate bar. The staff friendly and with the limitations of bringing fluids through. I would recommend drinking your tipple and then refill it at the water point for free on the other side.There are large bean bags for the kids to flop on if you can source one...

Very small airport, but it can be busy. If so, you'll need to wait outside (in the bus) before you can enter. Personnel is very friendly. From check-in to security and the stores. Just like everywhere else in Lapland. Big difference with other (major) airports.
