I haven’t been here yet but the big white thing seems a great party place.

A visit in this exquisite example of futuristic architecture was in our bucket list, and the motivation for our overseas trip to Sweden. Eventually, we were left with a bitter aftertaste.The tower's aesthetic value is undeniable. Its construction was completed in 1958, ergo, Stadsskogensvattentorn is mid-20th century social constructivism incarnate!The mere sight of it as it unfolds through the spruces will leave any art enthusiast with a soft spot for decontextualized abstraction in memorial construction breathless! Lamentably, this -unique in Scandinavia- masterpiece has stayed in the shadow of its contemporary Spomenik memorials.Alas, the real tragedy for this amazing work of art lies in its current use which we found lumpen, and at least in our book morally disagreeable. Regardless of one's personal taste (or lack thereof), the water facilities are quite recent and will appease most peasants and their litter. The water-slides can provide the plebeian visitor with some amusing rides and the jacuzzi-bar at the top boasts a great view indeed. Be that as it may, their mango daiquiris were average at best.Last but foremost, hard as we tried to accept the owners' business choices, we could not but be appalled by their treatment of the dolphins and would therefore recommend visiting this place only to 50's-modernism aficionados and speciecists.
