We had a wonderful time today making our very own Dala horses. Under the guidance of an expert local craftsman, we were able to learn various techniques for painting our horses. An unforgettable memory and highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique personalized memory from Sweden.

I went to Dala Shop to paint my own dala horse. The man working there was absolutely amazing. I was a bit confused at first, since I thought the painting session only cost 99 krona, but he helped me figure out prices. He was so kind, and such a good painter! He also helped guide me when I was painting my dala horse. He taught me tons of techniques and gave step by step instructions, including which brush was best to use. He really went above and beyond! I'm not used to painting, so my dala horse was a bit sloppy, but it was because of his guidance that I was able to do it at all. This was an absolutely wonderful experience. I'm so glad I went here!

Really beautiful, fairytale-like shop that has everything one would want to gift. Only huge downside for me was the completely rude guy behind the cash desk that made our buying experience an unpleasant one. So 4* for the content and 1* for the service"."

A highlight of my trip!Being my first time in Stockholm, I had really fallen in love with the Dalahäst as a symbol of both the country and my trip. I was so lucky to find the Dala Store, and really got way more than what I had anticipated. Not only was the store keep unbelievably friendly, he gave so much of his time to guide me elegantly through the culture and history of where the Dalahorse comes from, and why it is the symbol it is today.From the regions, to colours, to patterns, to history, everything was explained in extraordinary detail that only someone with a burning passion could do.I ended up getting a traditional Nils Olsen horse, alongside one made in store, which after such a great visit gave this one special Dalahäst a special place in my heart. Everything in store is handmade in Sweden, making each item unique in their own way.I can't recommend this store enough. 10/10

This is a nice little shop. The owner was very knowledgeable about the history of the Dala horse. We had a lovely conversation. This was one of the better shops we visited while in Stockholm.I am glad to see they have a website so I can purchase more horses for holiday gifts.They offered a paint your own horse session which sounded so neat! I wish we could have done it this time, but plan to during a future trip.

Was in search of the famed Dala Horse. Well, we found them in all colors and sizes! Look underneath them to see what town they were made in. They also do Global Blue duty free that gets the paperwork going for recovering the Value Added Tax (VAT) if you are a tourist to Sweden from most non-EU countries.
