Vandrarhem Kalmar Sjömanshem

Fräscht, sköna sängar, vacker gammal byggnad! Nyrenoverad toalett, lite störigt att man delar tre rum på en toalett där duschen är i samma.

Vandrarhem i centrala Kalmar på Kvarnholmen. Dubbelrummet var mycket litet. Plats för att sova men inget mer. Lite klaustrofobiskt. Två toaletter och en dusch för fem rum. Trädgården utanför är vacker och har utemöbler. Köket är okej utrustat, ett tv rum med stor soffa. Personalen var oengagerad.

The location is amazing. The courtyard and yard is amazing. The place itself not so much. There are fire doors on every room which make life harder and slam every time somebody goes through them. Some of the rooms are tiny and not laid out well at all. Don’t come with a friend. Get separate rooms if you do. Kitchen is cluttered and busy in the AM and PM and the fire doors make it extra frustrating to be in there. Also there are steps leading to the kitchen that are not well marked. I nearly broke my leg when I tripped on them upon arrival. Very frustrating. The hall lights are environmentally friendly so you have to push them to get them to come on. The bathrooms are tiny. No place to put your toiletry bag.I feel like this place has potential, but the way it is now I wouldn’t recommend it. Even for the price. The frustration/inconvenience isn’t worth it. Stay somewhere else that costs more and is easier to deal with.

For the ideal location (both in terms of the ferry and seeing the nearby historical buildings), the price is more than reasonable. Very cozy atmosphere, although the labyrinthine nature of the house can also be an inconvenience at times. The doors were a bit more finicky to use than I'd have preferred (although them not locking without turning the key was actually ideal when moving the luggage in and out). The showers and toilets are very limited in number; I'd imagine they're not adequate with more guests present.

Fantastiskt läge precis vid hamnen. Nära många fantastiska restauranger och barhäng. Nära matbutiker och centrum. Vi hyrde rum med toalett och kök och var mycket nöjd med det. Vi boka via Ruta som var väldigt trevlig och informativ. Köket hade två plattor, kyl, frysfack, fläkt, diskho, vatten och kaffekokare.

Centralt beläget med bra och hjälpsam personal. Bara öppet under sommaren och det är bra att boka i god tid för att få plats.

Rooms are okay, nice kitchen for sharing, but definitely not enough bathrooms! And we couldn't sleep longer than six because the other guests closed the doors so loudly...
