Grayhound Ventures - Adventure Sailing

I have been on four previous trips on Grayhound with the original owners and so I was interested to see whether the new management " would be up to scratch. I am pleased to say they were! With Filemon as skipper and Wille being responsible for everything else Grayhound is a wonderful way to experience the exhilaration of sailing a traditional ship at see but also relaxing in great company. Highly recommended!"

Greyhound is not only the most stunning wooden ship, but its crew is the most honest, caring and experienced. They are always keen to share their knowledge, and show a lot of patience in planning and explaining what is going on!I did my first Sailing across the channel aboard Grayhound, and couldn't have felt more looked after, and confident!Highly highly recommend!Mel

Sailing on the beautiful and lovingly maintained Grayhound was an amazing experience. From the moment I stepped on board, I felt that I was welcomed into a community of sailors inspired by their shared love of the sea and their commitment to care for the planet. It was thrilling to sail across the Channel, so fast that the dolphins could not keep up with us! The captain and crew combined deep knowledge of sailing with a sincere concern to make the voyage a great experience for everyone. Although I would not wish seasickness on anyone, experiencing it, at one point, highlighted that concern, demonstrated through their kindness and attentiveness to me. I would do it again! Also important to mention – I have no idea how it is possible to prepare such a variety of delicious food in that galley. But apparently, with the right cook, it is. My only regret is that the voyage was so short. I should have chosen a longer voyage! Next time...

I came across Grayhound adventures in Google and decided to give it a try. I did not have specific expectations so I was pretty open to the new experience. I would say it was much better than I thought! I sailed from Douarnenez, France to Gloucester, UK and this voyage was a full package: beautiful sunrises, amazing sunsets, dolphins, a bit of storm and rain, warm sunny days, great food and wonderful people on board. When I disembarked a few days later I had a feeling I was on board for a month! I am in love with this boat and definitely planning to join them again! I would recommend this team without any doubts! We just recently returned yesterday from an unforgettable sailing trip on the Greyhound. We would like to sincerely thank whole of Greyhound crew for the amazing experiences and very caring attitude towards us as passengers. Everything was wonderful, we learned and discovered many new things with interest: we set and lowered sails, navigated the ship, and in the evenings relaxed in a warm and friendly atmosphere, enjoying the delicious dinner prepared for us by Giulia, We would like to separately highlight the skills of captain Filémon, with whom we felt completely safe. And the whole crew with Nick, Julie, Adam and Noémie pleasantly surprised us with the coherence and efficiency of their team work. It's not often that you come across such a great, professional team who are at the same time really amazing individuals.Once again, a huge thank you to you and the entire Greyhound team for the experiences and enjoyment of this trip. Just back from the most wonderful 3 days aboard your fabulous Grayhound.The ship itself is a great example of a powerful sailing vessel from the days before winches, hydraulics and all the fancy gizmos, intent only on keeping traditional seamanship skills alive and well. These latter, I have to tell you, were available in great abundance under the tutelage of Captain Philemon. The crew worked so well together; they were charming, effective, efficient, endlessly good-humoured and fun.We enjoyed our brief voyage beyond all expectation; it was more than we could have possibly imagined.We are fortunate and grateful in equal measure.

I was incredibly lucky to have sailed onboard Grayhound Lugger! It is a unique experience that I do recommend to everyone. On a very elegant ship, we sailed in the company of dolphins (we actually also pull lots of ropes, handle the rudder, wet the deck, row on the gigs or... do the dishes ;-) ), we saw beautiful countryside, ate great food and shared many nice moments with the crew and the other passengers. The crew was truly fantastic and made this trip an amazing sailing adventure but also an enriching human journey. I’ll remember it all my life and I can’t wait to do it again.
